Welcome to VandyHacks VI - Vanderbilt University's annual collegiate hackathon! We welcome hackers of all skill levels and backgrounds to attend our event. Our official hacker guide can be found at hackerguide.vandyhacks.org.

Eligibility

  • Participants must be enrolled in a college, university, or trade school (or have graduated within the past 12 months) and possess a student ID.
  • Participants must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Team sizes are encouraged to be capped at 4 participants.
  • Participants should be excited for a fun-filled weekend!

Requirements

You can have a project, mock up, slide deck, demo, anything! We want to see your hard work. We are hosting a How to Demo workshop at 9:00 am before the expo teaching you how to present your project to judges and other hackers.

If you're submitting a project for best design incorporating a VH logo, use this Google form to submit your design.

Hillman's Hardware Challenge, Presented by Hillman (2)

Using Hillman's prototype hand scanner (which you can check out from their sponsor booth), build a scanner for measuring hand size for Hillman's personal-protection gloves product line, using machine learning. Winners get Raspberry Pi 4 kit.

Best Financial Literacy Hack, Presented by Vanguard

Build a technology to help increase financial literacy to educate low-income families on their financial health. Winners get Vanguard blankets.

Most Outside the Box Hardware Hack, Presented by BNY Mellon

Build an automation hack using UiPath! Each winning team member will receive a UiPath/MLH Branded Backpack and an opportunity to interview for a UiPath Internship in 2020 with high recommendation!

Best Use of Twilio

Create a hack using Twilio's powerful communications API. Do things like send SMS messages, phone calls, email, and much more in your project. The team that has the best use of Twilio will win a $50 Amazon gift card per team member.
